Why This Exists

This watch didn’t begin as a product idea.

It began as a character.

The goal wasn’t to build another piece of technology.

It was to bring a small presence into the world — something playful, expressive, and quietly alive.

Something that could sit on your wrist and feel less like a device… and more like company.

I’ve always been drawn to objects that feel like they have a story inside them. Toys, sculptures, mechanical curiosities — things that seem to have a personality even when they’re still.

The Cheshire Cat Watch grew from that fascination.

Working with former Disney Imagineer Terri Hardin, the Cat wasn’t designed as an interface. He was shaped as a character first — expressions, timing, mood, and subtle motion that make him feel like someone, not something.

Where the Cat first came to life

Technology came later, in service of that idea.

Inside is custom hardware and carefully written software, but those are just tools. Their job is simple: make the Cat feel present.

That’s why this exists.

Not to make you more efficient.

Not to notify you.

Not to compete with your phone.

But to add a small, strange, charming presence to your day.

To surprise you sometimes.

To sit quietly with you at others.

To feel like a character you’ve met, not a gadget you own.

If that sounds unusual, it is.

And that’s exactly the point.

People who connect with this story often tell us they feel seen in unexpected ways.
